Mint and Sektor have signed a distribution agreement to enable Mint’s Mobile and Countertop payment solutions to be sold by Sektor’s Retail and Mobile Integrators.
Alex Teoh, CEO from Mint says “With our MPOS customer base growing at 106% annually, we’ve recently introduced a counter-top retail solution that offers functionality not available in traditional bank sourced products. The solution is integrated with the POS (or mobile) application, so it makes sense for it to be delivered by the merchant’s technology provider. Sektor, and their nationwide group of integrator partners, will be a much more effective channel than the traditional bank route to get this new payments technology implemented for merchants.”
The integrated payment system, called Mint Connect has a compact PINpad and can process EFTPOS transactions as well all the traditional credit cards. This includes contactless, swipe, chip as well as Apple Pay and Android Pay.
Sektor will be making the Mint Connect solution available to selected partners who have solutions involved in retail or mobile field applications that would benefit from being able to process payments. Initial targets are retail countertop and in-store mobile use (eg. hospitality) where Mint Connect’s integrated operation makes for faster processing while the compact form factor is perfect for pay at table applications.
Sektor’s CEO, Rhys Warren says “It is timely and relevant for our IT integrator partners to expand their engagement with merchants to include a payment solution. Previously consumers simply expected a standard payment option at the end of a sale. With the recent dramatic increase in payment types, having the right option available is now a factor on where consumers decide to shop. Merchants want to keep ahead and while the new payment options are closely integrated into the store systems, it is more a technology solution than a banking one. Our IT integrator partners can now offer a full payments system as part of their store solution. This works better for the merchant with a single point of supply and support and is a real growth opportunity for our IT integrator partners.”
With its compact design, The Mint Connect system represents the “New Payments” solutions that allow for additional counter space previously used by “brick” EFTPOS machines. It is also small enough to fit easily in a waiter or waitresses pocket when processing payments at a table. Pursuing the latest technology, receipts can be emailed or texted as well as printed.
The Mint Connect distribution agreement is initially for Australia with other Sektor geographies currently under consideration.
